Data Breach Could Have Exposed Personal Data of 36,000 UPMC Patients

If you were a patient at UPMC between April 1, 2020 – June 25, 2020 your personal information may have been compromised and you may be entitled to monetary compensation.

Information exposed includes social security numbers, birth dates, financial information and driver’s license number.

The breach also may have impacted Medicare or Medicaid identification numbers, individual health insurance or subscriber numbers, group health insurance or subscriber numbers, medical benefits and entitlement information, disability access and accommodation, and information related to occupational health, diagnosis, symptoms, treatment, prescriptions or medications, drug tests, billing or claims, and/or disability.

Charles J. Hilton & Associates, whose email system was reportedly hacked, provides billing-related legal services to UPMC and alerted the health care system of the breach.

Charles J. Hilton & Associates is alerting the 36,000 UPMC patients that could be affected through personal letters and public notification.
