Patrick Donathen

Patrick was born and raised in Buffalo, New York. He attended Allegheny College where he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and was inducted into the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa honor society. He obtained his law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, graduating magna cum laude and receiving the distinguished Order of the Coif honor. While in law school, Patrick was a managing editor for the University of Pittsburgh Law Review and was also a member of the school’s Mock Trial Team.

Patrick joined Lynch Carpenter as a summer associate in 2020 and began as an associate in 2021. He represents individuals and consumers in complex and class action litigation, with a focus on data privacy and consumer protection litigation. Patrick is an instrumental member of Lynch Carpenter’s litigation team, playing an integral role in litigating complex matters in federal and state courts across the country, including In re MOVEit Customer Data Security Breach Litig., MDL No. 3083 (D. Mass.) (assisting Partner Gary Lynch who chairs the Court-appointed Settlement Committee recover millions of dollars for those impacted by a data breach stemming from a vulnerability in a file transfer software) and In re: Philips Recalled CPAP, Bi-Level Pap, and Mechanical Ventilator Products Liability Litig., MDL No. 3014 (W.D. Pa.) (assisting Partner Kelly Iverson as a member of law and briefing committee, the case resulted in settlements valued at more than $1.6 billion).

Patrick has also been appointed to leadership positions in a number of cases including: Opris et al. v. Sincera Reproductive Medicine, No. 2:21-cv-3072 (E.D. Pa.) (Settlement Class Counsel); Van Treeck v. Robert Morris University, GD-24-000927 (Pa. Ct. Com. Pl.) (Settlement Class Counsel); Gladfelter v. Susquehanna University, No. 4:24-cv-00382 (M.D. Pa.) (Settlement Class Counsel); In re: Young Consulting Data Breach Litig., Case No. 1:24-cv-03938 (N.D. Ga.) (Interim Co-Lead Counsel); In re CDK Global Data Security Consumer Litig., Case No. 1:24-cv-05221 (N.D. Ill.) (Interim Co-Lead Subclass Counsel); Blount et al v. Oracle Health, Inc., No 4:25-cv-00259 (W.D. Mo.) (Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee); and Hulewat v. Medical Management Resource Group, No. 2:24-cv-00377 (D. Ariz.) (Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee).

Patrick lives in Pittsburgh with his wife, Kelly. When he is not working, he enjoys spending time with friends and family, golfing, cooking, and watching his hometown Buffalo Bills.
